The stand is located in Deer Creek Hills, approximately 1/2 mile SW of the intersection of Michigan Bar and Latrobe Roads, on a gentle (3-5 degree) east-facing slope. The stand is composed of grasses and forbs and is dominated by Lasthenia, Layia, Leontodon, and Plagiobothrys greenei. Annual grasses, Erodium and Hypochaeris are also abundant. The soil is thin (5-8") over the bedrock. The long axis of the plot was oriented pointing west to east.; The site is actively grazed by cattle, as it has been for many years.
